BioI mainly created this food blog for a friend who was moving to the United States. She knew that I liked to putter around in the kitchen and asked me to teach her some recipes. I wasn't up for a live demo, so I told her I'd do this instead.
Butchok is a nickname I coined for my niece shortly after she was born (coincidentally from the same root word as the nickname my brother gave her) and I originally set my LJ account up just so I could read her parents' friends-only posts containing updates about her.
Kök is Swedish for kitchen and sort of rhymes with Butchok --- but not quite, since "ö" is a combination of "o" and "e". In Swedish, apostrophes are not used to indicate possessive forms, so Butchoks Kök is simply Butchok's Kitchen.
